Former Accra Hearts of Oak and TP Mazembe player Torriq Jibril has expressed his disappointment for not making his debut for the Black Stars in their 2021 AFCON Qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe in November last year.

In an exlusive interview with Accra based Angel Fm, the young talented winger said

“At the national team camp, two days before our 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe, captain Dede Ayew told me that It’s likely I will start the game but it was very surprised I didn’t make the first eleven because everyone at Camp knew I will start the game”

He then explained what happened at the bench when he was called by Coach Kwesi Appiah to prepare to make his debut.

“At the later stage of the game, I was called by Coach Kwesi Appiah to prepare for substitution, but unfortunately one of our defender on the pitch got injured leading to a forced substitution, so my chance to make my debut for the Black Stars suffered a set back. I was a bit disappointed and worried because I felt that was my moment”

The 29 year old surprisingly was given his maiden Black Stars call up for the AFCON 2021 qualifier against South Africa in Kumasi and Sao Tome and Principe in Sao Tome last year by former coach Kwesi Appiah, but didn’t feature in any if the games.
